Supply is only one part
Bitcoin has a transparent issuance schedule and capped-supply design, but scarcity alone does not set market price. Demand, liquidity, custody access and holders willingness to sell also matter. Estimates of lost coins are uncertain, not exact supply figures.
Review network security
Hash rate and difficulty describe resources securing the chain. Miner revenue and energy economics help explain security incentives. Evaluate short-term changes for size and duration rather than treating one movement as a crisis.
Measure usage honestly
Active addresses, transaction counts and fees can offer clues, but addresses are not unique people and batching can distort counts. Compare several measures and understand each limitation.
Separate adoption from headlines
Product launches and institutional access are not the same as sustained demand. Check disclosed flows, repeated use and primary documentation. Valuation models organize assumptions but do not produce objective price truth. Test slower-growth scenarios and state what would change your mind.
